Tips When Doing Business in Australia And Dealing with Australians
Each culture varies in the way they do business. So, in this episode of TIPS, Priscila Trevisan shares with us what she has learned when doing business in Australia and dealing with Australians.
While Australians are known for their relaxed attitudes, they are also very straightforward. When doing business in Australia, always be direct to the point. Short chitchats are encouraged, but don’t take longer than 5 minutes for small talk. Australians also like to sit down and talk business. They prefer dealing with business in the office and in the meeting rooms.
Speaking of meetings, punctuality is a huge deal for Australians. When doing business in Australia, respect everyone’s time. You need to arrive a few minutes before the start of any meeting. Australians like to start and finish on time. This also goes for events. Once a time has been set for an affair, there are no delays or extensions. Everything must be done on time.
When doing business in Australia, learn to appreciate both their friendliness and professionalism. Living in Australia, you’ll learn that Aussies have a great sense of humour. However, they aren’t the type to joke around all day. They can be professional, kind, polite, friendly and fun all at the same time.
Dealing with Australians can be a breeze if you follow these tips. We hope you enjoy doing business in Australia. Good luck!
